How Can Kiosks Help Your Business? A Look Into Custom Kiosk Design

Businesses across industries have turned to kiosks in order to engage consumers and expand brand reach. While some businesses are able to meet their specific goals with out-of-the-box solutions, many businesses need a solution as unique as their service or product. Custom kiosk design helps these businesses create a fully customized self-service solution to fit the use case. “A custom kiosk allows the customer to implement exactly what they need for the use case rather than something that’s pretty close,” said Meridian Director of Manufacturing, Bob Hubert.

The Custom Kiosk Design Process

The custom kiosk design process begins with a consultation. “The first thing a customer has to do is understand what they need versus what they want. Once they understand what they need, they’re able to convey that to a design engineer who can guide them to what they should use,” said Hubert. Custom kiosk design is a collaborative process that involves technical consultants and engineers combining their knowledge to develop logical and strategic solutions based on the client’s requirements.

“We can work with a customer if they have something as simple as a napkin sketch to create their custom design, and come up with a solution that would work best for the customer as well as manufacturability,” said Hubert.

Industrial designers use design thinking to create custom kiosk solutions that help businesses address their market needs. “Our engineers draw from a breadth of kiosk design experience. This helps them work with clients to determine both functional and aesthetic requirements for each project,” said Meridian Founder and CEO, Chris Gilder. Once the client and supplier agree on the requirements of a solution, the engineering team creates a series of conceptual and environmental renders for review. “The customer and sales team will review what the requirements are for the project, gather a list of all the components that are needed and will then determine what kiosks style would be the best fit for that use case,” said Hubert.

Engineers take the desired concept and create a fully functional 3-D CAD model, accounting for every screw, weld point, component, bracket and hinge required in building a fully functional custom kiosk solution.

Whichever the use case, custom kiosk design allows businesses to build a solution that achieves measurable goals, creates a great experience for the end user, is secure, and is easy to maintain.
